After three decades of defining Nollywood excellence, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde is stepping behind the lens. Her directorial debut, Mother’s Love, isn’t just a new film—it’s a career milestone marking her 30th anniversary in the industry.

Already gaining international attention after its showcase at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), the film is set for a nationwide theatrical release on March 6, 2026.

Mother’s Love tells the story of Adebisi (played by breakout talent Noray Nehita), a young woman who trades her sheltered, wealthy upbringing for the realities of her NYSC year. When she falls for Obaro (Olumide Oworu), a man from the vibrant Makoko waterfront, she finds herself caught between her father’s rigid expectations and her own newfound independence. At the heart of the conflict is Labake, played by Omotola herself, a mother who must finally break her silence to protect her daughter.

Blending themes of classism, family secrets, and sacrifice, the film features a stellar cast including Ifeanyi Kalu, Lilian Afegbai, and Nosa Rex.

Mark your calendars: Mother’s Love hits cinemas March 6, 2026.
